DAVID TIBBEN

I’m involved in the delivery of solutions for our clients. From point of sale right through to project implementation. I also like fixing things that no one else can!

What’s your area of expertise / responsibility at Switch?

Service Deliveries

How did you end up working at Switch?

I’d been working for a carrier for the previous few years and became sick of corporate politics and constant merry-go-round of middle management. After interviewing with Switch (at a pub), I could tell straight away they were a vibrant, energetic organisation.

What were your initial observations at Switch?

The resolute work ethic coupled (somehow!) with the need to have fun. A seemingly strange pairing, but makes for an environment where people enjoy what they do, and do it to a high standard.

What impresses you most about Switch?

Integrity and honesty. No BS.

One thing you’d say to the next new hire at Switch?

Buckle up and enjoy!

The most awesome thing you’ve ever done for a Switch client?

We have a client that runs a prominent restaurant in Melbourne. Right before they opened one busy Saturday evening, they had a fault causing their lines to go down. I was able to setup a Hosted PBX, install it onsite, train the staff and enjoy a bite to eat all within 1 hour.

Your favourite thing to do when you’re not working at Switch?

Playing sport and camping.

One thing you’ve always wanted to do that hasn’t been ticked off your bucket list?

Spend a few months to caravan around Australia

Your favourite movie ever and why?

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind – I like this film because it’s highly imaginative, very unique, and weaves a complex story of love and memory.

Craziest thing you’ve ever done?

My wife and I quit our jobs to travel overseas for 6 months.

Your 3 tips for an enjoyable holiday?

1. Don’t pack too much. 2. Immerse yourself in the culture (e.g. don’t just stay in a resort). 3. Be flexible and don’t stress, holidays never go exactly to plan.

If you could be a superhero who would it be and why?

Batman because he’s a boss, and he uses technology and gadgets to compete with superheroes with superhuman powers.
