How did you end up working at Switch?

I’d been working in corporate IT for many years and got tired of the politics with those environments. When I met the team at Switch I realised they were a fantastic group people with the same ideals as myself with a genuine love for real customer service. From here it was a short jump to come on board.

What were your initial observations at Switch?

High energy people and a culture that encourages everyone to work hard for our customers and still has fun with a positive attitude at the same time.

What impresses you most about Switch?

The culture that seems to have effortless grown here that encourages everyone to have fun, care for our customers and have a proper sense of ownership about the role they have here.

One thing you’d say to the next new hire at Switch?

No one should be afraid to be themselves here and get ready for some loud music!

The most awesome thing you’ve ever done for a Switch client?

3 days in to my role I helped a client restore the network to their site. It was a difficult and complex issue that had stumped technicians, providers and device manufacturers. We managed to isolate the problem and have it rectified the same day.

Your favourite movie ever and why?

The Patriot. Because I burnt out on Braveheart and its Mel Gibson in his prime before he went crazy. Also it stars Heath Ledger.

Craziest thing you’ve ever done?

Travelled to Montreal alone & stayed with strangers. Skydiving & bungee jumping in Bali while strapped to a bike.

Your most treasured possession?

Nothing material. My family is what I treasure most.

Your 3 tips for an enjoyable holiday?

1. Travel with someone who’s of the same mind as what you’d like to do on that holiday (rest or party?) 2. Don’t spend much time sleeping in. 3. Indulge in the culture, ask some locals what the best activities are instead of following the brochures.

If you could be a superhero who would it be and why?

Goku from Dragonball. Because he can do anything and is stronger than Superman. He can also instantly teleport anywhere in the universe so that’s handy to beat traffic.
